Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Mahama Ayariga has on behalf of the Parliamentary Caucus, extended his deepest condolences to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of their colleagues and distinguished patriotic Ghanaians who lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.

The crash took the life of eight persons:
1. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah – Minister for Defence
2. Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed – Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, and Member of Parliament for Tamale Central
3. Alhaji Muniru Mohammed – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
4. Dr. Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
5. Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary Candidate
6. Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala – Pilot
7. Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu – Co-pilot
8. Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah – Crew member

In a release dated August 6, 2025, the Majority Leader stated that “Our former colleagues in Parliament and in Government and the officers we have lost dedicated their lives to the service of our nation. Their untimely and tragic demise is a devastating blow to Parliament, the Government, the Armed Forces and the people of Ghana as a whole”.

“On behalf of the Parliamentary Caucus, I join the President, Members of the Government and all Ghanaians in expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Their sacrifice, patriotism, and commitment to duty will forever be etched in the history of our Republic. May their souls Rest in Peace.”
