The Member of Parliament for Adenta Kojo Adu-Asare says President John Evans Attah Mills is progressively on course to winning a second term of office, despite the defeat suffered by some incumbent African Presidents at their countries polls in recent times.
Sections of the public especially contributors to programmes on the media on Monday 26th March 2012 urged Ghanaians to take a cue from what has happened in both Zambia and Senegal and vote out President Mills who they claim have not met their expectations.
President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal over the weekend lost power to his former appointee Mr Macky Sall who held various portfolios including Prime Minister, in the second round of polls held in that country ending the (12) twelfth year reign of Mr Wade.
However contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show on Monday, Hon. Kojo Adu-Asare stated that calling for a replication of what has happened in Senegal in Ghana will amount to comparing apples with oranges as the scenarios are different in both countries.
He notes that, President Mills is yet to have his second term of office while President Wade on the other hand after serving his second term tried to go against the will of the people by contesting for a third term, a decision which majority of Senegalese deemed illegal.
Hon. Adu – Asare was confident that Ghanaians with how impressed they are with the NDC government will give President Mills his second term in the December polls with the hope that he will not try to change the constitution at the end of his second term to make him eligible for a third term.
