Proceedings in parliament continued on the floor on Tuesday amidst chaos over the declaration of Kpandai seat vacant.

The Minority caucus, true to their threat to ensure the government’s business suffers if Parliament fails to withdraw the letter to the Electoral Commission declaring the Kpandai seat vacant actualized their threat when proceedings continued.

It was a total melee on the floor of the House when the entire Minority deserted their seat to occupy the mid-section flowing into the Majority side.

Their move was resisted by sections of the Majority who tried to prevail on their colleagues from the Minority side to drop their stand for peace to prevail and to continue with business of the House.

The Minority wanted the House adjourned when Speaker Alban Bagbin deferred the ruling on the Kpandai seat vacancy but the Majority insisted work must continue leading to the disruption and the chaotic scenes.

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga the Minority’s actions was deliberate to thwart government business but insisted that his side would not be rattled by what he described as persistent taunts and deliberate attempts to derail parliamentary work.

According to him, the disruption is part of a sustained strategy by the Minority to force a resolution on the controversial Kpandai Parliamentary seat.
