The Minority in Parliament have decided to abstain from proceedings in the House on Thursday, May 29, 2025 in solidarity with their embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako has been in the custody of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) since Tuesday when he reported to the police CID office.
He failed to meet a GHC50 million with two sureties bail requirement and has since spent two days already with the investigative body.
Prior to leaving the chamber, the Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin resolved that until EOCO is able to do the right thing the NPP Minority will protest by absenting themselves from proceedings from the House and join their Ashanti Regional Chairman at EOCO.
“We don’t have 50 million worth of property; where is he going to get it from? That go and bring landed document. Mr Speaker they must do the right thing and we will not be part of any proceedings in this House”
