The Minority members of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee have expressed concern over what they describe as the Majority side’s reluctance to hold the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, accountable.

In an interview with Ghanamps.com, the Deputy Ranking Member on the Committee, Nana Asafo-Agyei, stated that members of the Majority on the Committee appear to be firmly supporting the sector minister, making objective engagement difficult.

He said it is the Minority’s hope that their Majority counterparts will approach the issues raised about the minister’s conduct with impartiality, in order to safeguard Ghana’s international image.

“When the very people who should help resolve a problem are instead supporting it, it becomes difficult to engage them constructively,” Asafo-Agyei explained.

He added, however, that the Minority has provided documents to the Majority members for their review, expressing confidence that once examined, the evidence will clarify the need for the action being urged by the Minority.
