Two schools in the Twifo Hermang Lower Denkyira Constiuency in the central region have received donations of 10 packets of roofing sheets and packets of nails from the Member of Parliament for the
area, Foster Joseph Andoh.
The two schools, Jukwa Catholic Primary and Armah Kwamano DA Primary both have their roofing ripped off by heavy rainstorms with Armah Kwamano having some damages to the school structure.
The items worth over forty-five thousand Ghana cedis will be used to put the structure of the two schools back in shape to enable the students get back to school to continue their studies.
The MP is aggrieved that over twenty schools have already been reported to have suffered similar ordeals, and the cost in repairing these structures will be very huge.
He raised concerns about the quality of work by contractors, adding that most of the affected schools were constructed less than five years ago. He thus called for technical officers at the various assemblies to do better quality check of projects to ensure contractors do not short change the government. Another solution to the problem is for school heads or the assemblies to plant trees around school buildings to protect them from storms.
