The Member of Parliament for Prestea- Huni- Valley, Hon. Francis Adu-Blay has completed work on a new mechanized borehole for the Prestea Government Hospital in a bid to improve potable water supply to the facility.

According to the Lawmaker, the GHs 54, 000 worth project was financed through his own share of the MPs common fund.

He said the project was however deemed necessary after other alternative sources of water to the facility had been polluted with waste chemical from small scale mining activities in the area.

The MP however bemoaned galamsey activities in various water bodies, adding that the development has adversely affected livelihood in Prestea and its surrounding environs since various sources of water to households have been contaminated with toxic chemicals.

Meanwhile, Hon. Adu-Blay also disclosed that renovation works on the Prestea Huni Valley district hospital have also been completed to improve the hospital’s edifice.

He said the main ward and Out Patient Department (OPD) of the hospital has receive massive renovation works to meet modern standard, adding that these were geared towards boosting quality health delivery in Prestea and its surrounding environs.
