Representing the Lere Federal constituency Ahmed Muhammed Munir when he got the opportunity to represent his constituents in the National Assembly after a resounding electoral victory, many saw him as a young man with big dreams.
Today, just months into his tenure, those dreams are translating into projects and policies that are directly transforming lives in Lere Federal Constituency, Kaduna State.

At a youthful age, Munir embodies the new face of Nigerian politics, a blend of youthful energy, professional competence, and grassroots empathy. Trained as an engineer, his background is steeped in problem-solving and innovation, qualities he has now brought into governance.

Before venturing into politics, Munir had carved a reputation as a dynamic professional, always ahead of his peers in academic and professional pursuits. That forward-looking spirit is what now defines his leadership style in the legislature.

His campaign was built on one clear promise: bringing governance closer to the people. And true to his word, he hit the ground running.

Building Bridges—Literally and Figuratively

Infrastructure has been one of Munir’s strongest points. Understanding that connectivity is the lifeblood of economic growth, he facilitated the construction of more than 20 bridges across the constituency. In addition, key road projects—including one named after Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State—have opened up previously inaccessible communities.

These interventions have had a ripple effect. Farmers now transport produce with ease, traders access markets more frequently, and students can get to school without the daily hurdles of unsafe crossings.

Investing in Education and Social Amenities

Education remains central to Munir’s development agenda. At Government Secondary School, Garun Kurama, he facilitated the construction and furnishing of a six-classroom block—an investment in the future of Lere’s children. This is in addition to the one in Dan Alhaji, Lazuru, Doka, Upah Gure, and Kauran Dan Gambo with additional construction of 12 schools set to commence. Additionally, the establishment of the Open University of Nigeria Learning Centre and a state-of-the-art computer centre is also fully captured in his 2025 blueprint.

Access to clean water has also improved, with a solar-powered overhead tank built to provide potable water for communities that once relied on unsafe streams and wells.

Empowering Women and Youth

Hon. Munir’s people-centred politics have also found expression in human capital development. His comprehensive SME empowerment program trained thousands of women and youths in agribusiness value chains such as tomato and okra production. Upon completion, over 3,300 beneficiaries received direct business grants to kickstart enterprises.

“The essence of empowerment is sustainability,” Munir told participants during one of the training sessions. “Our people must move from dependence to self-reliance, especially in agriculture, which is our economic backbone.”

Beyond training, he distributed 100,000 bags of 50kg NPK fertiliser to farmers, cutting input costs and boosting yields. Plans are also underway to establish a new dam to support irrigation farming.

Strong Voice the Legislature

While his constituency projects speak volumes, Munir has equally been visible on the floor of the National Assembly. In less than a year, he has sponsored seven bills, including:

A Bill to establish the Agency for Persons with Special Education Needs

A Bill to establish a National Security Coordination Centre

A Bill to amend the Financial Reporting Council Act, 2011

Bill to establish the Federal Medical Centre Saminaka.

Bill to establish the National Sickle Cell Institute to be the nation’s Agency for sickle cell research.

Bill to establish Climate Resilient Commerce in Nigeria, among others

These legislative interventions underline his commitment to inclusivity, security, and accountability—values that resonate nationally while also reflecting the local priorities of his constituents.

Winning Hearts, Keeping Trust

Munir’s performance has earned him praise from both the grassroots and political stakeholders.

Mr. Jonathan Shekarau, APC Chairman for Lere LGA, described him as “a loyal partyman who has matched words with action.”

Malam Haruna Haladu, a respected elder statesman, added: “He is a man of the people. We owe him nothing but our support and prayers to succeed further in his lofty plans for Lere.”

A Fresh Political Culture

In a country where many politicians are often accused of disconnecting from their constituents after elections, Munir’s approach is refreshing. He is visible, approachable, and practical in addressing needs. His blend of constituency service and legislative productivity is creating a new standard for what representation should mean.

Looking Ahead

For the people of Lere Federal Constituency, the journey with Hon. Ahmed Mohammed Munir has just begun. With his youthful vigour, professional grounding, and people-first agenda, expectations are high that he will not only sustain but expand the development footprint already visible in his first year.

Indeed, Munir has proven himself not just as a lawmaker but as a servant-leader committed to rewriting Lere’s development story, bringing governance home in its truest sense.
