The Member of Parliament for Nabdam in the Upper East Region, Hon. Boniface Gambila Adagbila has attributed his constituency’s continuous improvement in Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to improved infrastructure and motivation for both students’ teachers in the area.
According to the former Upper East Regional minister, the district has for years topped BECE in the region, something he described as shocking giving the poor nature of the area.
“In a region where you have Bawku, Bolgatanga and Navrongo Municipalities which are educational centers and to have a rural area like Nabdam leading scores of basic education sounds unbelievable but well that’s the truth” he said.
The MP made the shocking revelation in an interview with Ghanamps.gov.gh when he was giving an account on the performance of BECE results in his area this year. He said the continuous performance has as a result paved way for most candidates who sat for the examination to gain admission into the various second cycle institutions.
Though there were no figures to support his assertion, Hon. Gambila Adagbila reiterated by attributing the success history to infrastructure development, support for needy but brilliant students and good teacher-student relationship as the main reasons.
He further noted vacation classes are periodically organized for students in selected school, adding that such interventions forms part of the secrete behind the success story.
He said there were still much to voice out as far as education is concern though he conceded the district slipped to second place this year.
