The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commenced processes to select a candidate for the now-vacant Ayawaso East parliamentary seat.
The seat became vacant following the sad demise of the NDC Member of Parliament, Mahama Toure Naser, earlier this year.
As a traditional stronghold for the NDC in the Greater Accra Region, the party is optimistic about securing the seat in the upcoming by-election. The party has subsequently opened nominations for interested members.
At the close of nominations on January 24, 2026, six aspirants had picked up forms to contest the party’s primary. The by-election is slated for February 7, 2026.
The aspiring candidates are:
1. Mohammed Ramne
2. Mohammed Abdul Salam
3. Yakubu Azindow
4. Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed
5. Najib Mohammed Sani
6. Amina Adam
