The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party is expected to hold a national vetting exercise for all of its aspiring Parliamentary candidates from 7th to 10th January 2012.

Currently the regional vetting of parliamentary candidates is ongoing in some regions across the country with 8 regions covered.

The Eastern and the Greater Accra regions are the ones yet to be covered.

The primaries for parliamentary aspirants in areas with sitting MPs which is slated for the 21st of January promises to be keenly contested as a lot of current ministers and party heavy weights such as Fifi Kwetey Deputy Minister of Finance, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister of Information, Nii Lamptey Vandepuye, A Presidential staffer, Dr Joe Oteng Agyei among others have decided to become members of the legislature.

The party has admonished the aspirant to endeavor to run their campaigns in a manner that will not threaten the unity of the party especially as the crucial 2012 election approaches, to enable the party retain power.
