The Member of Parliament for Adenta Kojo Adu –Asare has dismissed suggestions that the controversial payment of about GHS 52 million judgment debt to self acclaimed NDC financier Alfred Agbesi Woyome, and its attendant brouhaha will surely send the ruling NDC party parking out of office come December general elections.
Some political analysts and the sympathizers of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are of the view that electorates will vote out the government due to the ‘fraudulent’ circumstances leading to the payment of the colossal amount and the poor handling of the much talked about case.
However contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show on Monday, Hon. Adu – Asare stated that despite the unsuccessful attempt by the opposition NPP to rob the President in into the Woyome scandal, the government has acquitted itself creditable with the alacrity with which President Attah Mills has dealt with the issue after the (Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) which investigated the scandal submitted its findings to him and this remarkable move the MP believes will win President Mills more votes.
He said unlike the NPP and the way in which Ex President Kufour ‘shielded’ most of his officials who had corruption cases leveled against them, President Mills has ensured that the rule of law is applied irrespective of how close the culpable individual is to him or the NDC party.
“ I have always maintained that the NPP is not an alternative to the NDC in the way in which this country has been efficiently managed, they come nowhere near the NDC if both parties are to put good governance and other records side by side, they don’t deserve another chance to rule Ghana’’ Hon. Adu Asare said.
