
The government has honoured transfers to all statutory funds covering the first quarter of 2025.
The Finance Minister on Tuesday told Parliament that all transfers due to the National Health Insurance Fund for the period January to March 2025 have been paid which enabled the National Health Insurance Scheme to settle arrears owed to healthcare providers and to implement the Free Primary Healthcare and Ghana Medical Care Trust program (Mahama Care).
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance in a statement to Parliament on Payments to Statutory Funds disclosed the disbursement to funds as follows:
i) National Health Insurance Fund – GHS2,033,469,607
ii) GETFund – GHS2,710,227,947.00
iii) District Assemblies Common Fund – GHS987,965,073.00.
District Assemblies, he disclosed are to receive directly a minimum of 80% of the allocated DACF resources in order to empower the Assemblies to drive economic growth at the local level.
He guaranteed that approximately GHS6.1billion of the GHS7.57 billion earmarked for 2025 will be disbursed directly to spur local activities at the district level.
The release for GETFund covers the period January to April stating that this is important to help address the challenges of feeding which previously impeded the smooth implementation of the Free Senior High School program which is now fully covered under the GETFund.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson affirmed that the timely disbursement of these statutory funds is a testament to the government’s commitment to boost performance in priority areas of the economy.
