The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, has presented motorbikes, bicycles and megaphones worth GHs 50,000 to the NDC foot soldiers in the constituency to mark the launch of his campaign towards the 2012 general election.
He said the motorbikes and the bicycles would help the recipients to move into the campaign zeal.
Nii Afotey Agbo noted that the gesture was also to show appreciation to them for working hard to help him retain the seat again as the Member of Parliament for the area.
The MP, who is also the Greater Accra Regional Minister, is of the view that this step will enable him to concentrate on the ministerial duties which covered the entire region, while the party office handled his campaign at the grass root level.
He stressed the need for his campaign team to move into the constituency, ignoring all temptations from who would want to intrude and urged them to concentrate on the purpose for which the bikes were given and charged them to entice over 80 per cent of the voters in the constituency to the party.
He advised them to use tact and respect in their approach to work to manifest the Better Ghana Agenda.
Nii Afotey Agbo gave the assurance that with their support and hard work which helped him gain the unopposed status during the primaries, he was convinced that success would come their way in the next elections.
He urged them to be disciplined in all their endeavors to give the party the good name that it deserved.
Nii Agotey Agbo, promised to bring together all people including the youth, traditional rulers, elders and development partners to build the region.
Nii Afotey Agbo disclosed his intention to devote the period by working hand-in-hand with the people and assured them of greater collaboration.
He also gave the assurance that he would work as a leader and bring everybody’s ideas together for development.
He appealed for co-operation from the people to enable him to achieve his target.
The Kpone-Katamanso Constituency Organizer, Mr. Emmanuel Nagadzi, who received the items was appreciative of the gesture and said it would go a long way in their campaign.
He said the party in the constituency was united and would use that objective to work hard to ‘win more souils’ for the party.
