The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, has stated that it was wrong for the Minority to walk out in support of their colleague Samuel Abu Jinapor after he directed the Marshal to escort him out of the Chamber on Tuesday, November 2, 2026.

According to him, he would have asked the Speaker to expunge what happened on the floor leading to his directive, but the Minority did not wait to listen to him and walked out in solidarity with their colleague.

“I left it as it happened, and I will do what I believe is right and in the national interest. There is no way the Speaker can be intimidated by any caucus; it will not happen,” he said.

This came to light when the Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Defeamekpor, sought guidance from the Speaker as to why the event that occurred on the floor of the House did not feature in the Votes and Proceedings.
