The position of Osahen Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in Parliament, and the entire leadership of the Minority caucus remain unchanged.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, at a press conference on Thursday, October 29, 2026, said there has never been any discussion to replace the current leadership of the NPP in Parliament as being speculated in the media.
He thus dismissed reports of a planned reshuffle of the Minority Caucus leadership as false and misleading, adding that such reports were meant to create confusion within the party.
“Let me state it categorically. The party has never had any meeting. The party has never thought about even deliberating to change the leadership in Parliament. We have not,” he stated.
He accused individuals circulating the reports of attempting to sow division among members of the parliamentary leadership and undermine unity within the caucus.
“Those who are busily peddling lies and trying to create this confusion among the leadership in Parliament and the mighty Minority Caucus will not succeed,” he added.
He affirmed the party’s satisfaction with the current leadership and said no discussions had been held to replace Mr Afenyo-Markin or any member of the team.
