The Member of Parliament for Adenta, Kojo Adu Asare has lashed out at the leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their unguarded pronouncements saying its leaders appear to be engaged in a match of who can spew out the most condemnable statements.
According to him, in recent times hardly does a week pass without an NPP big wig putting out statements that have the potential of breaching the peace that the country is currently enjoying.
The MP said Ghanaians detest and will resist any government that would want to suppress the will of the people.
Hon. Adu Asare expressed the concern during a panel discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo program on Monday 28th Nov. 2011, after Samuel Abu Jinapor, a special aide to the NPP flag bearer Nana Akufo Addo stated that the NDC is the most weakest government ever in the political history of Ghana.
According to him, President Mills led administration has not been able to carry out any of the numerous threats it issued against the NPP when it assumed power such as the jailing of NPP appointees.
However, Hon. Adu –Asare quickly rebutted the statement saying Ghanaians are not interested in an oppressive leader, adding that the quality of leadership style offered Ghanaians by Professor Mills is one that will ensure freedom for all citizens and also engender development.
He noted that the NPP has set off on a path of self destruction as its leaders, one after the other including the Presidential candidate, National Chairman among others have gained notoriety for making statement like “All die be die’’ , “Ghana will be like Rwanda or Afghanistan” to show their bravado.
“I don’t know what is wrong with the leadership of the NPP, they have great leaders including President Kufour who we never heard making such unfortunate statements, what has now come over the present leaders,? The Gadaffi style of leadership where a President is had on his people and talks tough is not needed in Ghana, we need leaders who respect their people like President Mills’’ he said.
Hon. Adu- Asare noted that with this kind of rubble rousing attitude by the NPP, they are certainly going to lose the 2012 elections.
