Former Member of Parliament (MP) for North Dayi, George Loh has taken a swipe at the ruling government led by President Nana Akufo-Addo for playing politics with the previous administration’s decision to join the International Monitory Fund (IMF) programme.

He advised that we should stop ridiculing our image as a country by the kind of things we say, because we are going on a political pilgrimage and noted that it help the current government win power.  worn
“Our politicking must end when elections are won, we should start again in another election year”.

When John Mahama decided that for policy credibility we were going to IMF at the time those in the NPP were claiming that there was recklessness spending, he said.

He further pointed out that Ghana’s foreign partners withheld a lot of funds because of what Ghanaians were saying about the economy whiles some were going abroad to give all sort of lectures on how reckless we have been as a people in managing our economy.

Today NPP government also believes the IMF can give them policy credibility, it is within their right to ask for extension of time, he said.

Mr. George Loh questioned who gave President Nana Akufo-Addo the briefing early to indicate that Ghana was going to end the IMF programme, only for the economic management team to come back and say they agree with the extension of the programme.

“If my President says something it should be final, no one should come and say anything to contradict him, unless he comes back to say why he is changing what he said”.
