The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament will commence public hearings on the Auditor-General’s 2024 reports for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), as well as pre-tertiary schools and Technical Universities.

According to PAC member and MP for Ejura-Sekyedumase, Muhamed Braimah Bawa, the hearings will address outstanding issues concerning audits of Internally Generated Funds (IGF) and the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).

In a cost-saving measure, the Committee has divided the country into four zones for the hearings, moving to meet the involved institutions rather than requiring them to travel to Accra.

* Zone One (North): Upper East, Upper West, Northern, and North East regions. Hearings will be held in Tamale.

* Zone Two (Mid-West): Ashanti, Bono East, Ahafo, and Western North regions. Hearings will be based in Sunyani.

* Zone Three (East): Greater Accra, Eastern, and Volta regions. Hearings will take place in Ho.

* Zone Four (South): Central and Western regions. Hearings will be conducted in Takoradi.

Mr. Bawa also noted that with 2025 concluded, the PAC expects new Auditor-General’s reports to be referred to the Committee by June or July of this year.

“This means we will subsequently be dealing with reports from the new administration,” the MP stated. “We will see if the level of financial infractions reduces or increases. I believe they should reduce drastically. The Clerk is finalizing the current reports for presentation in the House, but so far, I am happy with the work we have done.”
