The Rt. Hon Speaker Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin is advocating for an earnest discussion on a comprehensive healthcare support programme tailored towards the unique pressures of parliamentary work for Members of Parliament.
In the wake of the painful death of the Akwatia MP Ernest Yaw Kumi who passed away recently at the age of forty (40) and whose painful exit was attributed to heart failure, Speaker Bagbin described his demise as “a painful reminder of the demanding nature of our calling”.

At the adjournment of the House for recess, the Speaker recounted the historic visit to the House by the Prime Minister of India, which affirmed the deepening diplomatic and parliamentary co-operation between the two nations.

Touching on the recent electoral dispute in Ablekuma North during the re-run of the parliamentary election, he said the incident involving the former Member of Parliament, Mavis Hawa Koomson, must renew our collective commitment to legal reforms, institutional accountability and the promotion of peaceful democratic processes.
“This House unequivocally condemns all forms of political violence and reaffirms its dedication to safeguarding electoral integrity.
This Meeting has demonstrated what is possible when we work together – transcending partisan interests to serve the greater good. Let us carry forward the spirit of consensus-building, national unity and public service that has defined this session. May we return reinvigorated, ready to confront new challenges and seize new opportunities for the benefit of all Ghanaians”, he concluded.
