The Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alban Bagbin, has stated that the Attorney General and Minister of Justice will shortly advise President John Evans Atta Mills on the final decision to take on the nearly failed STX housing project.

An amount of $1. 5 billion out of US$10 billion was expected to be used to construct 30,000 housing units for Ghana’s security agencies but the deal has failed to take off due to the boardroom infighting between both parties – STX Ghana and STX Korea.

The STX deal became the subject of raging debates on airwaves and on the floor of Parliament as some Civil Society Organizations and the Minority raised red flags over some details and the viability of the project.

Mr.S.K Bagbin in an interview on Joy FM on Tuesday, said STX Ghana and Korea internal wrangling unduly put government in a fix and there is the need for government to take a final decision on the matter.

He said government has hastened slowly on some contractual issues in a bid not to violate some of the clauses of the STX agreement, adding that the government of Ghana has met all its obligations and responsibilities and it’s up to the feuding parties to meet theirs.

Hon. Bagbin emphasized that government is committed to ensuring that the national interest is well protected. He was at a loss as to how the parties who have unduly delayed government  could take government to court.
