Good news for constituencies in dire needs of improved road infrastructure as the government has announced plans to aggressively intervene to improve roads in those areas.
The Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson during the mid-year budget presentation on Thursday, July 24, 2025 disclosed that the government through the Road and Highways Ministry has 166 constituencies in dire needs of road improvement.
As such, he said the government has decided to reconstruct 10 kilometers of roads in each of the 166 constituencies every year for the next 3 years.
This translates to about 5,000km of roads to be reconstructed in 166 identified constituencies in dire need of road infrastructure over the next 3 years.
The announcement was met with laud applause and cheers from the legislatures.
Even though the Minister fell short of disclosing the beneficiary constituencies, the response from the MPs was not surprising because for a very long time, majority of the questions asked for responses had to do with roads and when the government would improve them.
The execution of these roads would significantly give a facelift to these constituencies and accelerate economic development as it would guarantee easy movements of goods and services.
