Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has announced plans to contest the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries as she seeks to recapture the seat in the 2028 elections.
In a statement dated Thursday, October 22, 2026, the former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection said her decision followed “considerable reflection, extensive consultation and broad-based engagement” with party leadership and executives.
“I formally announce my intention to once again present myself for consideration as the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency,” she said.
Safo said she will contest the primaries when the party announces the timetable and guidelines for its internal elections.
She said her decision was driven by her continued commitment to the people of Dome-Kwabenya and her belief that she still has more to contribute to the constituency’s development.
Reflecting on her 12-year tenure as MP, Safo said she had worked with residents, party members, community and religious leaders, and other stakeholders to address local challenges and advance development.
She described Dome-Kwabenya as one of Ghana’s fastest-growing constituencies, noting that its growth presents both significant opportunities and considerable developmental challenges.
While acknowledging that more work remains to be done, Safo said she is determined to build on the progress made during her time in office.
“While much remains to be done, I remain committed to building on the progress we made together and work tirelessly towards a better future for Dome-Kwabenya,” she added.
