The Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has reiterated that, members of Parliament, staff and the media must do well to comply with all protocols on the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him some lawmakers in the 8th Parliament of the fourth Republic have tested positive to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
He gave this advice when Members of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Pusiga Laadi Ayamba and Ayawaso West Wuogon Lydia Seyram Alhassan made statements on the pandemic, how it can be managed as the second wave of cases are going up.
Mr. Speaker further indicated that, some members of Parliament have already been tested positive for COVID-19 and that all Members and Parliamentary staff should be serious with the ongoing COVID-19 mandatory testing by Noguchi health center in Parliament, in order to curb the spread of the pandemic.
“Issues of confidentiality you may not know who has contracted the virus and we are not supposed to disclosed those who have it. When I was entering I had to signal some members to respect the physical distancing protocols”.
He further admonished that MPs who have not gone to take the test for the coronavirus should do so because it is for the good of themselves and their family, and cautioned that MPs who have not gone for the test he might be compelled to mention names as Friday, January 29, 2021 was the last time he was talking about the subject.
