Following the demise of Mr. John Kumah, one of the deputy ministers at the finance ministry, president Akuffo-Addo has reassigned Dr. Stephen Amoah to the Finance Ministryas deputy Minister.
Dr Stephen Amoah, until this latest move was the Deputy Trade and Industry Minister.
Per the press statement from the Communications Director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, the decision took immediate effect from Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
Part of the statement reads: “The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has reassigned the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Hon. Stephen Amoah, as Deputy Minister for Finance.”
“Hon. Stephen Amoah, until his re-designation, was the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, and he takes over from the late Hon. John Kumah, who passed away on 7th March 2024. His appointment takes effect immediately.”
Meanwhile, the President has also nominated Mr. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, Member of Parliament for Achiase, as Deputy Minister-designate for Trade and Industry subject to parliamentary approval.
And the President also called for expedite vetting and approval process for the nominee to ensure swift commencement of duties.
