Members of Parliament have highly commended the President, Nana Akufo-Addo on his historic decision to commemorate this year’s national Independence Day anniversary in the Northern regional capital, Tamale which was a complete departure from the norm.

The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini said the celebration was not only historic but has opened up the city to the rest of the world as a tourist and investment destination.

Mr Alhaji Fusieni who gave the commendation on the floor when he contributed to statement marking the 62nd Independence Day celebration said the President’s decision to move the celebration to Tamale is one of the best political decisions in the history of the country the President will always be remembered for that.

He said moving the whole nation to the Northern regional capital has enabled Ghanaians and political figures to appreciate the stark realities of the north as well as the challenges facing the people up north.

He said the celebration also brought the people of the north together to see themselves as one people.
