A Teaching Hospital to be built at Ho, in the Volta Region is estimated to cost between US$ 120 – 150 million.
The Ho Regional Hospital is to be upgraded into a Teaching Hospital and will boast of facilities such as 240 beds, theatres, bungalow for Doctors and Nurses, Children’s ward and trauma centre among others.
The Minister of Health Sherry Ayitey made this known in Parliament on Tuesday when she appeared before the House to answer questions on the teaching hospital.
The Member of Parliament for Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah first asked the minister when the Ho Regional Hospital would be converted into a teaching hospital for the University of Health and Allied Sciences.
In her response, Hon. Sherry Ayitey noted that the ministry has finished a proposal for funding and development of the teaching hospital. Documents covering it have been submitted to the Ministry of Finance, she answered.
She could not however state exactly how much the hospital will cost the state after MPs probed further, but said it would not exceed US$150 million.
