Vetting of the Chief Justice nominee, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie is yet to start following a back-and-forth objection from the Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga to the Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin’s preliminary comment. The Chairman of the Committee, Bernard Ahiafor thus suspended proceedings as tempers rise.

The vetting which was slated for 11:00am started at 11:30am but had to be suspended at 1:16pm by the Appointment Committee Chair Benard Ahiafor as he struggles to maintain order.

Minority Leader Alexander Kwanena Afenyo-Markin noted that the Majority leader Ayariga has been objecting that his issues raised offend rule 103 F that is a matter pending before a court.

“If that is the case, the matter before us is rather more fitting than the argument he is making against me; we have pending suite over six months”.

But the Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga did not take kindly to that and kept interjecting. This pushed the Chairman of the Appointed committee to come in and reminded the sitting that, “the whole world is watching us; do not speak until I ask you to do so” warning to invoke the rule appropriately if others do not follow lay down rules.

Chairman of the Committee Benard Ahiafor had to stop the Minority Leader from talking about issues pending at the Community court and in the Ghanaian court as the former Chief Justice has initiated some processes in court against her removal.

“Anything that has to do with your motion which the House has decided on would not be entertain; that matter procedurally is over”, he stated.
