The Vice chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Samuel Atta Akyea has warned that the governor of the bank of Ghana, Dr. kofi Wampah may not be able to flee from the wrath of parliament should he disrespect summons by the committee next sitting.
“The buck stops with him. We need him to answer critical issues- Nobody can answer questions from where he heads better than himself,” he added.
The Governor of the Bank of Ghana Tuesday failed to appear before Public Accounts Committee [PAC] to answer queries on the Auditor-General’s reports for 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Members expressed displeasure over his conduct which they considered to be disrespect to the legislature and warned of consequences thereof should he fail to turn up on Wednesday.
When sitting resumed Wednesday morning Mr. Wampah did not show up. The First Deputy Governor who represented Mr. Wampah told the Committee Mr. Wampah had been engaged with other official duties, hence was unable to come.
But Atta Akyea believes the BOG governor’s posture is a tacit affront to the dignity of the august house, especially when he said official letters forwarded to him to that effect explicitly indicated that he’s to report personally.
According to him,“if precedence is anything to go by” then the BOG boss has been overly warned of the damning consequences of his actions, and may be cited for contempt if he doesn’t honour the invitation by the committee.
A supposed three million Ghana cedis paid as a consolidated fund to be transferred into an Ecobank account cannot be traced. The Abuakwa south lawmaker in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM noted that until the governor comes before the committee to answer critical questions on that, he will find himself in the grips of parliament.
