Member of Parliament(MP) for Asawase and Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mohammed has revealed that the best way to deal with the shooting and killing of two suspected armed robbers at Aboabo in his constituency is for an independent investigation.

He was quick to point out in an interview that he will not jump the gun, but wait for the interior Minister Ambrose Dery to brief the House first, as the first Deputy Speaker has directed when he raise the issue on the floor of the House and called for attention.

When the House is brief, depending on what the Interior Minister will say, “we will know our next line of action”, he said.
Mr. Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka called on the youth of Aboabo extension not to take the law into their hands, even as the police cannot be trusted, in many of such situation they have not been straight forward he lamented.

And further added that when the incident happened he promised the youth to raise the issue on the floor of the House he has done that and it is receiving the necessary attention.

According to the Asawase legislator his house in Asawase was ransacked whiles on duty in Accra by robbers and knows the pain one goes through when attack by robbers. But questioned why a suspect should die in the custody of the police is something that we should be interested in.

“If you claim that they were aiding arm robbers, there are guidelines the police should follow, in escorting criminals to investigative grounds how did they come to the point that you claim they wanted to run and you shot them”, he question.

He further pointed out that the two suspects are dead and gone they cannot be brought back to life to tell their story.
