Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and leader of Government Business, Osei Kyei Mensah –Bonsu is advocating for a mechanism, where legislators will account to their constituents.
He further revealed that there should be a mechanism where MPs who are not accountable to their constituents can be withdrawn as legislators.
According to Mr. Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, there is no clear define system in the Ghanaian constitution and Parliament where MPs have a reporting procedure to inform constituent; and advocated for enforceable code of conduct for MPs to enhance their performance.
He further pushed for provision of adequate salary to MPs since their job is full time and any other income outside trade should be recorded to ensure the right taxes are being paid as form of accountability.
