A member of the Appointment Committee and Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe, Dr. Bernice Adiku Heloo, is advocating for positive discrimination on gender issues to get more female appointees.

This call she made ahead of today’s vetting of changes and reshuffle made by President Nana Akufo-Addo in his government.

In an interview, the Hohoe lawmaker revealed that she has not see a lot of women appointees in terms of the creation of the new regions.

“It is mainly male dominated, the President is doing his best, but when it comes to this issues a lot of factors come to play, ethnic regional balance and a whole lot”.

She further pointed out that out of the six regions, at least there should have been three females appointed Ministers and if not at all “two”.

“We,  know the pressures, but  gender issues must be positive discrimination , President should have said I  would wave off ethnic consideration I would wave off educational and make sure I get the women we hope that next time it would be better”, she lamented.
