Honorable Tina Gifty Naa Ayeley Mensah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Weija-Gbawe Constituency in the Greater Accra Region and a Deputy Minister for Health has donated 10 hospital beds to hospitals and clinics in her constituency.
The donation which was done on Wednesday September 13, 2017 recived commendation from patients who were receiving health care at the hospitals and clinic when the items were donated.
The hospital beds and accessories were donated to the Ga South Municipal Hospital popularly known as Akawe, Seventh Day Adventist Hospital and Oblogo Health Care Centre.
In all a total of 5 modern hospital beds were donated to Ga South Municipal Hospital, 2 beds to Oblogo Health Care Centre, 2 to SDA Hospital and 1 bed to Gbawe Clinic.
According to the MP, she is touched by the fact that most patients admitted to hospitals and clinics in the constituency lack the infrastructure in the form of beds to accommodate such patient. A situation which has persisted for a long time saw the light of day.
She stated without mincing words that, it is her priority to see to it that health care delivery in the country is given the needed attention so as to save innocent souls that pass out in their attempt to receive medical care.
Dr. Nana Ofosua Amponsah, the Ag Medical Superintendent at the Ga South Municipal Hospital (Akawe) who received the 5 modern hospital beds could not hide her joy on receipt of the items. She stated that, the items could not have come at a better time than now, particularly in the period where the hospital is over burden with a lot of medical cases which need to be taken care of each day.
She added that, the pressure on the hospital stems from the fact that, the hospital is located along the high way hence the pressure. She was pleased to receive the items and like Oliver Twist asked for more, she pleaded with the MP to frequent the hospital so as to offer help assistance to the hospital.
The MP stated that, Ga South Municipal Hospital is dear to her heart since it the very hospital she did her National Service when she completed her Bachelor Degree. She hinted that she will embarked on a Regional tour to visit all hospitals, clinics and CHPs compounds in the Greater Accra Region; therefore all medical facilities in the region will received some technical support from her as she tours.
Ms. Priscilla Nyametse Frimpong, the Matron at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital located inside CP in the New Gbawe Electoral Area was also pleased with the kind gesture from Hon. Tina Gifty Naa Ayeley Mensah advised them to take proper care of the facilities supplied to the hospital.
She reiterated that the beds supplied will not be the end: other facilities will be supplied in subsequent times.
At Oblogo Health Care Centre, Ms. Octmel Bedwei Majdoub, the Physician Assistant in Charge was also pleased to receive the hospital beds supplied to the centre by the illustrious MP and Deputy Minister.
She said about 22 patients visit the hospital on daily basis which require that the infrastructural base of the centre is enhanced.
