Newly admitted senior high school students in the Yilo Krobo Constituency numbering two hundred and twenty (220) have received support from their Member of Parliament Albert Tetteh Nyakotey as part of his back to school package.
In an interview the MP, he noted that his gesture was tailored towards the intellectual growth and leadership potentials of the junior high school graduates in the constituency.
Also, the gesture, he noted is to alleviate the difficult financial conditions parents go through when their wards gain admission to school.
“I am hoping that next year I can do two or three times what I have done this year; I noticed there are a few students who did not benefit from it, in all two hundred and twenty students are benefiting from this gesture they have boxes, toiletries exercises books and pens”.
The MP further noted that he has plans to assess the performance of the students who are benefiting from his support, adding that he would do a follow up to ensure that they are benefiting from the support.
Again it is very important that students have their peace of mind; their first day of going to school they should have somewhere to sleep so that they get well prepared for their secondary education, he added.
The Yilo Krobo Municipal Chief Executive, Francis Addo Akumatey on the other hand reminded the students that the kind of attention and support being extended to them is a wakeup call for them to be mindful of the fact that their educational progress is being monitored and they cannot afford to disappoint.
Meanwhile, the Education Director, John Kwame Gasu who also graced the occasion added his voice to the need for the beneficiary students to pay attention to their books to give value to the investment being channeled to them.
