Torgbe Stars beats their rivals Sampa FC 4-3 on penalties to win the Member of Parliament for Bortianor/NgleshieAmanfro Constituency Gala Trophy at Amanfro Community Park at Amanfro.
They took home a trophy, two sets of jerseys, a football and a cash of 500 Ghana Cedis while Sampa FC took 300 Ghana Cedis and two sets of jersey. The second runner up, Adanseman United, also took 200 Ghana Cedis and two sets of jersey as consolation prize.
The two sides, who qualified to the finals from the group stage put up splendid performance to the admiration of spectators and invited guests.
The gala was under the auspices of Mr Bright Demordzie, Member of Parliament for Bortianor/NgleshieAmanfro Constituency and NiiKwashieGborlor IV, Chief of NgleshieAmanfro and was under the theme, “Empowering the Youth through Sports”.
Two teams from each of the six electoral areas in the Constituency participated in the gala and were given an appearance fee of 100 Ghana Cedis per team.
Mr Demordzi before the match noted that a healthy youth is the backbone for every society and stressed the need to engage them around productive activities that would unite them for development.
He said the MP’s Gala, an annual event, aimed at instilling discipline, commitment, patriotism and unity among the youth in the constituency to enhance development.
He expressed the hope to build a strong team by the end of the year to represent the constituency.
Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV commended Mr Demordzi for his efforts to bring various developmental projects and initiatives to the Constituency and pledged the support of the traditional rulers to assist him.
He also urged the youth to utilize their time on profitable ventures to bring honour to themselves and the constituency at large.
Other participating teams are Freedom FC, Eleven Wonders, Galilea Allstars, Galilea United, United Stars, Vigilant Stars, Langma FC, Next Level FC, and Harakas Stars.
