The Minister of Transport, Collins Daudu has said the airline industry in Ghana especially the domestic sector is expected to soon experience a major boost as government takes steps build an ultra modern offices to house all the local airline companies in the country.

According to him, the move is to create a one stop assembling place for passengers who patronize the local airlines to check their travelling arrangement and other information.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme on Wednesday, Hon. Collins Dauda stated that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is committed to growing the local airline sector by ensuring the necessary support and infrastructure are put in place.

He said the government has also approved funds for the construction of runways at the Kumasi and Sunyani airports to ensure a more efficient and safer air travel in the country.

The issue of damaged runway at the Kumasi Airport became very topical in the media as the Ghana Airport Company announced a closure of the airport much to the displeasure of passengers, but was later rehabilitated to enable the planes to resume business.

However Hon. Collins Dauda who is also the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South noted that such unfortunate occurrence would be a thing of the past following the construction of the runways.
