The Parliamentary Select Committee on Health has rescheduled its intended meeting with the Nurses’ Association, the Ministry of health and the Ministry of Finance originally scheduled for today, June 26, 2025, to July 10, 2025.
The rescheduling as contained in a press release was because the Minister of Health and the Minister of Finance are unavoidably absent from the jurisdiction.
The release also noted that at the last meeting held on June 12, 2025, the nurses reduced their demands to four;
1)payment of 8% non-basic allowance to all nurses
2)Fuel allowance which they estimated will apply to 5,300 nurses of a
certain category
3) Uniform allowance increased from GH₵ 400 to GH₵ 1000
4) Research and Book allowance also certain category of nurses (900
nurses).
These demands the Committee noted have been converted into monetary terms.
“As we speak now, the demands of the nurses have been converted into monetary terms and there is the need for preliminary meeting between the ministry of health, health committee and ministry of finance to discuss the outcome of the analysis”.
The Committee reassured the nurses that the health committee and for that matter parliament will continue to advocate for them. “We are their representatives, and we represent them. We also represent the patients and all other citizens of Ghana. We will continue
to work in our collective interest”.
