The Minority in Parliament is urging the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition to give due recognition to the previous government’s efforts that contributed to the recent oil and gas discoveries in the Cape Three Points Block 4.
This follows the official declaration of the Eban and Akoma oil finds as commercially viable.
Speaking at a press briefing on Monday June 7, 2025, Deputy Ranking Member on the Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy, Collins Adomako Mensah, noted that the discoveries were initially made on May 9, 2019, during the tenure of the previous government.
He indicated that the then administration granted approval to ENI Ghana to undertake a joint appraisal programme which played a key role in advancing the project.
He further emphasised the importance of continuity in governance and called on the Ministry to acknowledge the foundation laid by earlier administrations as part of fostering a collaborative national development agenda.
