The Member of Parliament for Jirapa, Cletus Siedu Dapilah said Ghanaians will not take the former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections serious about his comments on the Ablekuma North electoral violence.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at the recently held delegate conference of the party promised to prosecute individuals involved in the act when they return to power.

But Mr. Dapilah who condemned such violence behavious that sometimes characterize our electoral process, saying Ghana should not allow violence to have a place in the Country’s democratic journey flaws Dr. Bawumia because of his past records on similar incidents under his administration.

He pointed out that Dr Bawumia as Vice President did not condemn violence that occurred in the Ayawaso West Wuogon and other related electoral violence, so it is strange coming from him in opposition suddenly calling for investigation into the matter which is already ongoing.

“I tell you what he said people would have taken him serious; but when he said it people looked at him as doing politics. For me violence should not have a place in our democracy, it is never right and can never be right”.
