Minority in Parliament has strongly criticized the Tamale High Court ruling that nullified the Kpandai parliamentary election, describing it as a “kangaroo judgment” and a “miscarriage of justice”.

At a press conference in Parliament House on Wednesday, the Minority Leader, Mr Alexander Afenyo-Markin, questioned the legitimacy of the ruling, arguing that it was delivered without a full judgment, factual findings, or legal analysis.

He said the directive amounted to a mere legal order lacking proper judicial reasoning with the potential to create anarchy in the constituency.

The Caucus reaffirmed its support for Matthew Nyindam, assuring constituents that he remained the sitting Member of Parliament for Kpandai.

The Caucus emphasized that Mr. Nyindam would continue to serve in Parliament until the appellate process is fully exhausted, including possible recourse to the Supreme Court.

Mr Afenyo-Markin stressed that the Minority Caucus would back Nyindam’s legal challenge, insisting that the ruling undermined electoral justice and could create unnecessary tension in the constituency.

On Monday, November 24, 2025, His Lordship Justice Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew of the Tamale High Court ordered a complete rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election, a decision that has sparked debate over the role of the judiciary in Ghana’s democratic process.
