The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has officially summoned lawmakers to return to the House for the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament.
Sittings will resume at noon on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, marking the end of the recess period following the First Session.
The summons was issued today via a constitutional instrument, executed under the authority granted by Article 112(1) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution. This provision empowers the Speaker to determine the time and place for Parliamentary sittings.
The reconvening of Parliament paves the way for a full resumption of legislative duties. The agenda for the session is expected to include the deliberation of critical government bills, intensified committee work, and debates on pressing national issues.
Political observers anticipate a period of heightened legislative activity, as the House turns its focus to key policy initiatives and its constitutional oversight responsibilities. This session is seen as central to advancing the government’s agenda and addressing broader governance priorities.
Parliamentary leadership and members are expected to outline their key goals and legislative roadmaps for the session when proceedings formally begin next month.
