Dominic Napare, a member of Ghana’s delegation to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament, says he is hopeful for a productive delocalised meeting in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The meeting is scheduled to run from Wednesday, April 8, to Sunday, April 12, 2026. It will be Napare’s first delocalised session since he was sworn into office—having previously attended an extraordinary meeting in Port Harcourt, where he took the oath, and an ordinary session in Abuja, Nigeria.

According to Napare, a delocalised meeting involves face-to-face engagement with key stakeholders and sector players. He explained that participants would hold discussions and conduct visits to gain practical experience.

The joint committee on Social Affairs, Gender, Women Empowerment and Persons with Disabilities; Political Affairs, Security and APRM; Legal Affairs and Human Rights; and Trade, Customs and Free Movement will hold its first delocalised meeting in Sierra Leone under the theme: “Parliamentary approaches to safeguarding street-connected children and addressing child exploitation amid humanitarian exigencies in the ECOWAS region.”

Napare noted that since this is his first delocalised meeting since joining the Community Parliament, he expects robust engagement with civil society and government agencies on the theme under consideration.

He added that sharing experiences among lawmakers from member states would allow them to tap into Sierra Leone’s expertise, deepen their knowledge, and help address similar challenges back home.
