April 8, 2026

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has taken its oversight duties to the doorstep of citizens, beginning its zonal public hearings in Tamale on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

The hearings aim to scrutinise how public funds have been managed by various institutions, with a sharp focus on the Auditor-General’s reports concerning the District Assemblies Common Fund and other statutory funds for the financial year ending December 31, 2024.

Commitment to Transparency

Chairperson of the Committee, Abena Osei-Asare, assured the public of a fair and transparent process. She stressed that all infractions identified in the report would be thoroughly interrogated.

In a move to ensure impartiality, Osei-Asare noted that since the audit period coincides with her time in government, she handed over proceedings for the day to the Ranking Member, Hon. Samuel Atta Mills.

Several District Assemblies faced the committee, including:

· Nanumba North (Bimbilla), Nantong, Savelugu, Kumbungu, Sagnarigu, Gushegu, Saboba, Karaga, and Nanumba South.
