Mr Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, has given Abossey Okai Methodist Junior High School 26 laptop computers for their excellent performance in the 2011 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

This followed the school’s first appearance in the BECE and scored 100 percent.

Mr Chaie said education was his priority and therefore championed the provision of the laptops from the Ministry of Education to support the study and learning of Information, Communication Technology (ICT) in the school.

He said knowledge in ICT was no longer for the privileged as the world now depended heavily on if for virtually every transaction in business.

Mr Chaie said the government had recognised the contribution and sacrifice of teachers towards achieving meaningful and quality education for Ghanaian children and would listen to their concerns at all times.

He said government was also making all efforts to improve the skills and knowledge of teachers in order to enhance teaching and learning in schools.

The Headmistress of the Abossey Okai Methodist JHS, Mrs Patience Amelorku, attributed the excellent performance of the BECE results to the greater commitment and teamwork and the constant supervision of the students and the teachers.

She commended the MP for the donation.

The Officer in Charge of Education in the area, Miss Bernice Aduo, commended the MP for his contribution to the development of education in the Metro Sub and the constituency.
