The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, briefed Parliament on the status of the ‘Big Push Infrastructure Programme’—a flagship government initiative aimed at addressing the country’s infrastructure deficit, particularly in the roads sector.

The update follows recent social media posts and a Minority press conference that called on the government to ensure transparency and accountability regarding the programme.

Addressing the House, Minister Agbodza stated that all contracts awarded under the programme strictly followed the Public Procurement Act and its associated regulations. “Mr. Speaker, all contractual information is publicly available on the Ministry’s website,” he said.

The Minister also rejected claims by the Minority that the government had abandoned inherited road projects. He noted that 23 road projects, valued at GHS 14.88 billion, which were awarded by the previous administration and later abandoned by contractors due to a lack of dedicated funding, have been absorbed into the Big Push. According to him, these projects have been novated with a new funding source.
