ACCRA – The Minority caucus in Parliament has warned that it will “expose” Finance Minister Dr. Ato Baah Forson when parliament reconvenes to debate his statement on Ghana’s final review of the IMF bailout programme.
The debate, initially scheduled for this week, has been shifted to Tuesday, June 2, 2026, following a request from parliamentary leadership.
Boamah: Minister’s statement a ‘rehash’ of budget
Speaking ahead of the postponed debate, Yaw Patrick Boamah, Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, accused the Finance Minister of rehashing his 2026 budget and using the IMF statement as a “pre-load” to his upcoming midterm budget.
“We will have ample time to rebut the propaganda the Finance Minister is making,” Boamah said. “Skillfully, he did not talk about the losses of the Gold Board, nor the public debt as of May this year. We are going to expose you next week Tuesday – big time.”
Cocoa farmers still unpaid, Minority claims
Boamah further criticised the minister for failing to settle outstanding payments to cocoa farmers, adding: “You are here to launch your presidential campaign.”
The Minority has promised a detailed rebuttal during Tuesday’s parliamentary session.
