Nominations for parliamentary aspirants of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in constituencies where the party has not sitting MPs (orphan constituencies) ends tomorrow.

Nominations which opened on the 16th of August was to allow interested people who intend to vie for parliamentary seats to make official their intentions.

Already some ministers, high ranking government officials and District Chief Executives have picked their nomination forms to contest for seats currently occupied by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the party it is focusing on these constituencies to ensure that candidates elected are strong enough to snatch the seats from opposition parties.

Male candidates were made to pay a nomination fee of 2,000 cedis while their female counterparts paid half of the fee.

The nominees are yet to undergo a vetting process to approve their nominations.

The Propaganda Secretary of the party, Richard Quashigah who spoke to Citi News on Thursday 15th September stated that the party was not likely to extend the deadline for the nominations.

He said so far the exercise has been smooth with no incidents recorded and also expressed confidence that the actual election exercise would also be free, fair and successful.
