Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, Chairman of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, has defended the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, against calls for his dismissal from the Minority on the committee.

According to Vanderpuije, the demand for the Minister’s removal is misplaced.

“How can you call for the sacking of a Minister over a decision made by the United States on immigration visas?” he questioned.

He emphasized that the Foreign Minister has instead been proactive on the international stage, engaging Ghana’s partners on job creation and investment attraction.

Vanderpuije added that, as Committee Chairman, he could attest to the Minister’s efforts, having accompanied him on working trips to China and other countries — engagements he said have produced positive results.
