Vote me out if you don’t want me – Inusah tells NDC youth

Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Hon. Inusah Fuseini has told his constituents in the Northern Region to vote him out if they no longer require his services instead of attempting to lynch him.

Hon. Inusah Fuseini was reportedly chased away by irate NDC youth at a meeting in Tamale.

According to reports, the action by the irate NDC youth was meant to express their displeasure on their MP’s alleged neglect of his constituents since he assumed office.

But speaking on Radio XYZ’s Strict Proof on Monday, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources condemned the behavior of the youth adding that if they are not pleased with his work, it is better they vote him out instead of attacking him in public.

He, however, denied that he was chased away by the irate youth but confirmed that his official vehicle was destroyed by his constituents while one of his followers was mercilessly beaten.

“Why would they even want to lynch me; representing the people of Tamale is it a crime?” Hon. Fuseini queried.

“If the people of Tamale who voted me into office do not want me to represent them again, it is not by lynching me because I have other responsibilities, I have a family to look after.

“They wait and if it is time to vote; then they remove me from office and not lynch me,” Hon. Inusah Fuseini said.

Students in Nabdam Constituency apply for scholarship

Over 1,000 students in the Nabdam Constituency of the Upper East Region who could not afford to pay their school fees have applied for the Member of Parliament Common Fund.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Nangodi after touring the area Mr Boniface Gambila, the Member of Parliament for the area, said he was overwhelmed by the large number of applicants.

He said parents of students seeking admission to senior high schools were expected to pay at least 600 Ghana cedis but found it difficult to pay due to the poverty in the area, hence the pressure on the Fund.

Mr Gambilla said the government had paid the MP Common Fund for the first quarter of 2013, leaving the second and third quarters and this would prevent the MPs from assisting more students.

The MP, who visited five cluster zones of his constituency comprising 41 polling stations, explained to his constituents what pertained in Parliament and also in turn noted their concerns.

He assured them that one of his top priorities was education and that he would explore other means to support students including organizing holiday classes for them.

On portable water, Mr Gambila said he would help to provide more portable water to areas that lacked it and also lobby to ensure that the road are improved.

He told the people that under the Rural Electrification Project, he would ensure that all communities in the constituency are connected to the national grid.

“I will help in the creation of more jobs by lobbying for support to construct more dams in the area to enable the people, particularly the teeming youth, go into dry season farming. I will also fight to ensure that government releases funds to the District Assembly to accelerate development”, the MP said.

The MP donated a cow to each of the five cluster zones and bags of rice and drinks.
