”I Will Never Insult Rawlings Again” – Kennedy Agyepong

Kennedy Akompreko Agyepong, NPP MP for Assin North, and an avowed critic of Ex President John Rawlingsthe most insulting politician in Ghana, has openly vowed not to hurl insults at former President Rawlings any longer.

In the wake of the rather scandalous story that hit the news stands last week about a certain Bishop(?) Obinim and his anti-Christian antics (especially his open confession that he used some supernatural powers to make a baby invalid), the insulting NPP MP was full of praise for President Rawlings because during his time, he dealt mercilessly with such charlatans masquerading as men of God. According to the abusive Assin North MP, he yearns for the days that the Rawlings Administration dealt mercilessly with such characters.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Edwasu Nsem last Thursday, Kennedy Agyepong said that there is no way the likes of Bishop (?) Obinim would be walking around as a free person if Rawlings were in-charge.

“Adakabre, I now understand the thinking behind what Rawlings did. In those days, some of us insulted him because we did not think far enough to understand that he was doing the right thing” Kennedy Agyepong said. “Apparently, Rawlings was doing the right thing because there is no way people like Obinim should be walking free” Kennedy Agyepong added. Sounding very livid Kennedy Agyepong swore that he will never insult President Rawlings because he was saving the nation from the hands of the likes of Obinim by cracking the whip.

“Adakabre, I will never insult Rawlings again” Kennedy Agyepong said.

It cannot be lost on those who were old enough at the time how Chairman Rawlings dealt mercilessly with a certain pastor in Kumasi who was working against the tenets of the Revolution with his anti-Ghana sermons.

In like manner, Chairman Rawlings dealt mercilessly with a certain lunatic who named himself Dzorwulu Jesus and was making his equally lunatic followers drink his urine.

It would be recalled that earlier on in the week and on the same Adom FM programme, the selfsame Kennedy Agyepong eulogised coup d’états; yearning for another “Rawlings”.

According to Kennedy Agyepong, after all the years of hurling insults at Rawlings, he now understands the motivating factor behind the 31st December uprising and is hoping that another “Rawlings” will emerge very soon because in his estimation, President Atta Mills and the NDC is deceiving and failing Ghanaians.

The Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South, Stephen Balado Manu has urged disgruntled members of the Ablekuma North Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to channel their grievances through the party structures.

Issues unsettled in the Ablekuma North Constituency of the NPP incensed some aggrieved members who demonstrated on Thursday when the Presidential candidate of the NPP Nana Akufo-Addo visited the constituency as part of his Listening Tour ahead of the 2012 general elections.

The group has called for the immediate removal of their Member of Parliament (MP), Justice Joe Appiah who according to them is ineffective and cannot retain the Ablekuma North seat for the NPP in 2012.

He cautioned that the MP’s conduct would adversely affect Nana Akufo-Addo’s chances of becoming president and would also cause the NPP the Ablekuma North constituency seat to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) if immediate measures are not taken.

However speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday 11th August 2011, Balado Manu cautioned members in Ablekuma North constituency about the consequences of internal party wrangling, a situation which he said cost the NPP dearly in the 2008 general elections.

Adenta MP : NPP should not hide under idioms to insult the Presidency

The Member of Parliament for the Adenta Constituency, Kojo Adu-Asare has described as unfortunate attempt by some members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to denigrate the presidency.

According to him, for Kwabena Sarpong, a member of the NPP’s Communications team to say President J.E.A. Mills is ‘clueless’ on happenings around him is regrettable.

Kwabena Sarpong who appeared on MultiTV’s political show Minority Caucus on Wednesday August 10 said President Mills has no clue on the things going on in his administration.

He added that for President Mills who professes to be God fearing to allow his appointees to go on an insulting spree against their opponents and also lie to Ghanaians, is evidence enough of the president’s hold on governance in the country.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Kojo Adu-Asare said politics of insults is part of the campaign strategy of the NPP in their bid to unseat the NDC government.

He said according to the Oxford advance dictionary, clueless means ‘very stupid or not able to understand or do something’ which is usually used for people who are paralyzed and cannot do things on their own.

The NDC MP noted that, for a member of the NPP to use such a word to describe President Mills, calling the integrity of the president to question exposes the opposition party’s agenda to denigrate the presidency.

The Adenta MP observed that if the NPP decides to use idiomatic expressions to insults President Mills and members of his NDC, they would much them ‘boot for boot’.

Kojo Adu-Asare recounted some incidence where some members of the NPP members who have engaged in politics of insults against the President and his appointees to butress his claims.

“In just two weeks, John Kuma went berserk; just a week after, the Communications Director (Nana Akomea) also followed suit -‘ stupid fool’ – on a live programme both on TV and radio and then another – ‘very stupid’- to concretize the word stupid,” he added.

He took a swipe at the flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo for not openly reprimanding members of his party who insult the presidency.

“We are getting to a very sour point in our body politics. We should not use the opportunity we have had to denigrate our own seat. The elections and its results will show what Ghanaians want”.

Nana Akomea dragged before Privileges Committee

The Research and Advocacy Platform [RAP] of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] has petitioned the Parliament to sanction the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South, Nana Akomea, over the insults he hurled at Deputy Tourism Minister, James Agyenim Boateng on Multi TV and Joy FM’s news analysis program Newsfile last Saturday.

According to the group, Nana Akomea by his actions has tarnished the image of Mr. Agyenim Boateng.

Spokesperson for the group, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu explained that the group is “appalled by the conduct of Nana Akomea, we do not believe that a man of his station must allow the kind of words that proceeded from his mouth to come out of his mouth. He should never have done that. Even what is worse, is that having done what he did, he was prevailed upon by the host of the show to withdraw and apologize and he refused. That again sets a very bad precedence.”

He also added that “we are extremely worried that Nana Akomea will engage in a conspiracy with other members of the NPP to deliberately undermine the integrity of James Agyenim Boateng. So what he has done has completely stripped him of any legitimacy to continue to represent the people of Okaikoi South in parliament.”

The Research and Advocacy Platform wants Parliament to “haul Nana Akomea before the Privileges Committee so that they will take him through disciplinary proceedings with the view to meting out severe sanctions out to him so it will serve as a deterrent to all those out there who want to engage in this kind of unethical behavior.”

But commenting on the issue on Joy FM’s Top Story, former Member of Parliament for Elembele and former Chairman of Parliament’s privileges committee, Freddy Blay said the Committee on its own cannot decide to handle the issue.

According to him, the Speaker of Parliament will have to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee before it can take action.

Parliament won’t approve budgetary allocation for nonconforming MDAs

Parliament would soon stop approving the budgetary allocations of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) who fail to implement fully the recommendations of the Auditor General’s report.

Mr. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, Vice Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, announced this at a three-day Orientation Workshop for officers and Heads of Institutions of the Ghana Education Service (GES) at Wa, on Tuesday.

Mr. Agyemang-Manu, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa West Constituency in the Brong-Ahafo Region, said to ensure this Parliament had recommended to the Speaker to set up a Financial Tribunal to supervise the implementation of such recommendations by the MDAs.

He said PAC was not set up by Parliament only to invoke sanctions on institutions or persons who breached the public financial administration regulations but also to ensure that public funds were utilized properly for the benefit of society.

Mr. Agyemang-Manu, therefore, urged accountants to play a consultative advisory role to the heads of second cycle institutions in the administration of school funds.

He also urged the heads of such institutions to listen to the advice of their accountants because they were the professionals in the management of funds.

The MP again advised the school heads to keep their own records of all financial transactions and demand from their accountants and store keepers monthly account statements and stores reports.

According to the Vice Chairman, this would enable them detect early any foul play before it got out of hand.

He also asked them to strengthen their Internal Audit Units because they could help them to avoid an invitation by the PAC.

Mr. Iddrisu Mahama, the Upper West Regional Director of Education, said the purpose for organizing the workshop was to introduce the officers to more appropriate measures for the effective management of their offices and the institutions.

He said it would also give school heads and schedule officers the opportunity to interact and understand each other, discover their shortcomings and work as a team to remove any fears whenever they were invited to appear before the PAC.

Alhaji Issahaku Salia, Upper West Regional Minister, said Auditing was an integral part of good governance which should, therefore, be linked to accountability and better public sector management to improve on public sector performance.

Akim Oda MP concerned over huge loans contracted by gov’t.

The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Yaw Owusu Boateng, says he is becoming increasingly worried about the huge loans the ruling NDC government is contracting from foreign countries.

According to him, the NDC’s proclivity for securing huge loans which attract high interest will have dire consequences as the economy can easily be crippled as a result of these financial transactions.

The NDC government since its assumption of power in 2009 has contracted lots of loans from institutions like International Monitory Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, but most of the loans have been secured from China which has been met with some concerns from section of the public.

Parliamentarians are to reconvene from recess from 22nd to 25 August to approve a $3 billion loan from China for the construction of several developmental projects including the Western and Eastern corridors roads.

The eastern corridor project, stretching from Tema through Asikuma, Hohoe, Jasikan, Yendi and Nakpanduri to Kulungugu, serves as the main link between the southern and the northern parts of the country and between Ghana and neighbouring Burkina Faso and Niger.

Speaking to ghanamps.gov.gh, Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Yaw Owusu Boateng described government’s penchant for loans as very awful as it has already contracted $8.5billion in less than 3 years in government.

He noted that the yet to be approved $3 billion plus the already secured $8.5 billion and $500 million is unacceptable as it will further increase Ghana’s debt stock.

“In less than 3 years in power the NDC government has contracted loans to the tune of $12 billion which is twice as much as Ghana’s debt from 1957 to 2000, this is serious, I’m sure if it had not been for the recent rebasing of the economy, Ghana would have gone back to HIPC. Hon. Owusu Boatend said.

Bishop Obinim is Fake – Kennedy Agyepong

The Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyepong has described the Founder of the International Gods Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, as a fake pastor who deserves to be publicly flogged as was done in the Rawlings PNDC era.

He said harsh punishment such as what prevailed in the military regimes must be reintroduced to deal with fake pastors who take advantage of unsuspecting followers.

The MP who in recent times has severally criticized pastors expressed his disgust over Bishop Obinim storming the studios of Hot FM in Accra on Monday in protest of a discussion on his infidelity with the wife of one of his associate pastors and in the process vandalizing property of the station.

He is said to have attacked a number of persons including host of the programme, Barimah Kwame Ntim and guests but was prevented from doing any more harm when the Adabraka Police was called in to maintain order.

Bishop Obinim has also publicly confessed to (spiritually) crippling and damaging the brains of the baby of the woman he had an affair with, when he used his hands to touch the head and legs of the baby who is a year and half old.

Speaking on Adom FM on Thursday, the Member of Parliament Assin North Kennedy Agyepong who condemned the conduct of Bishop Obinim, was beside himself with shock to hear a supposed man of God being so callous.

” What wrong has this innocent baby done to this pastor, if you have any issues deal with the baby’s mum who you believe is out there to tarnish your reputation and not the baby for christ sake”

Kennedy Agyepong noted that ruthless measures must be taken against such charlatans who take advantage of ordinary people all in the name of solving their problems for them spiritually.

“How on earth can such a person call himself a man of God when he can be this callous, because of democracy people like this can go about doing what they want, I sometimes wish we could revisit the Rawlings PNDC era where people were beaten for misbehaving, this man would have been severely dealt with’’ he fumed.

Hon. Kennedy Ayepong called for Bishop Obinim to be severely punished to serve as a deterrent to such criminals who under the guise of being pastors cheat people.
